Meet the Startup: Greet with Dovydas Bernotas

Welcome to Meet the Startup - a new series on the Klero blog where we sit down with startup founders to talk about product, growth, and the hard lessons learned along the way.

Every Thursday, we'll bring you honest conversations about what it really takes to build a product from scratch, how founders decide what to build next, and the tools and processes that keep their teams moving.

In this first edition, we chat with Dovydas Bernotas, Co-founder and Chief Product Officer at Greet, about building a friction-less restaurant experience and staying focused when opportunities are everywhere.

Dovydas Bernotas, Co-founder and CPO at Greet

Let’s start with you. Can you introduce yourself and share a bit about what you were doing before Greet?

I’m Dovydas Bernotas, Co-founder and Chief Product Officer at Greet. I’ve spent the past eight years working in product roles. Earlier in my career I was part of a fitness app startup where we scaled to 100k users in 2019. Before starting Greet, I worked as Product Manager at Wix.

What is Greet and what problem does it solve? Why did you decide to build this specific product?

Greet is a tech company that makes it easy to pay, order, and leave a tip at a restaurant using a smartphone. The idea came from everyday frustration. Waiting for a waiter just to pay the bill, waiting again to order one more drink, or wanting to leave a tip but not having cash. These small moments happen in almost every restaurant. We built Greet to remove that friction and make the experience smoother for both guests and staff.

What does a typical day look like for you as a Co-founder and Chief Product Officer?

Most of my time is focused on product and team coordination. I work closely with our designer on future features and product direction, plan daily work with the development team, and translate feedback from users and account managers into the product roadmap. I’m also involved in managing the account management team and shaping the marketing side of the product.

What has been your biggest challenge so far?

The biggest challenge is always the same: staying focused. In a startup there are endless ideas and opportunities, but progress comes from saying no to many of them.

How do you currently collect and manage feedback from your users?

We collect feedback from several sources. Our support calls provide a lot of insights, and our account managers run regular check-ins with clients. We also allow guests to leave direct feedback after completing a user flow in the product, which our team sees instantly. When we need deeper insights, we conduct user interviews.

How do you decide what features to build next and put on your roadmap?

We prioritize based on the business value a feature can create and how much it improves the experience for restaurants and their guests.

Don't miss another founder story

Every week we sit down with a founder building something real. Get the next one in your inbox.

What are the top 3 tools or apps your team uses every day?

To be honest: Google Workspace, Slack, and Pipedrive.

How do you use AI in your daily work or inside your product?

Nothing overly complicated. We use AI mainly to improve productivity. Tools like ChatGPT help with writing, research, and we use AI-assisted coding tools to speed up development. We are also starting to experiment with OpenClaw for some internal use cases.

What has been your biggest mistake or learning so far?

I’ve learned that people are often willing to help more than you expect. You just have to ask.

What is one piece of advice you would give to someone starting a startup today?

Start small and take it step by step. You don’t need to have answers to every question from day one, and you don’t need a grand plan to take over the world immediately. If you try to solve everything at once, you’ll likely feel overwhelmed and stuck.

What is the next big goal for Greet?

New markets for Greet!

Good luck!
