Mind the Product - Product Management Community & Conferences | Klero Resources

A practical guide to Mind the Product: conferences, talks, community, and when it fits your product career.

Mind the product

Mind the Product is a global product management community: conferences (#mtpcon, INDUSTRY), talks, articles, and local meetups. They focus on practical product topics - strategy, prioritization, hiring, communication - and connect PMs across companies and regions. This guide covers what they offer and when it’s a good fit.

Behind Every Great Product - Marty Cagan at Mind the Product London 2016

Why mind the product fits product work

  • Conference talks - Keynotes and sessions from PMs and leaders at tech companies. Topics include strategy, roadmapping, discovery, teamwork, and career. Talks are often recorded and shared.
  • Community - Local meetups, Slack-style channels, and a large audience (300K+ product people). Useful for networking, job leads, and “how do others do this?”
  • Articles and recaps - Summaries and write-ups from conferences and contributors. Good for catching up when you can’t attend.
  • Global - Events in London, Chicago, and other cities; content and community are accessible online.
  • Core concepts that matter

    Conferences

#mtpcon London - Annual flagship in the UK. INDUSTRY: The Product Conference - Chicago. Both feature keynotes, breakouts, and networking. Check Mind the Product for dates and speakers.

    Talks and videos

Talks cover communication, strategy, prioritization, team building, and dealing with stagnation or scale. The Mind the Product YouTube channel and video library host recordings. Use them for learning and for sharing with your team.

    Local communities

City-based meetups and communities let you meet PMs locally. Good for in-person networking and “what’s happening in this market?”

    Content and recaps

Conference recaps and contributor posts live on the site. Use them to skim themes and to find talks or speakers to watch in full.

    Practical habits

  • Watch a few flagship talks - Pick 2–3 from recent #mtpcon or INDUSTRY that match your current focus (strategy, hiring, discovery). Share the best with your team.
  • Join the community - If there’s a local meetup or an online community, join. One or two events or conversations can surface ideas and contacts.
  • Use talks as alignment - “Watch this 20-minute talk” can align a team on a framework or mindset faster than a long doc.
  • Check recaps before attending - If you’re considering a conference, read recaps from the previous year to see if the themes and level fit you.
  • When mind the product isn’t the fit

  • You need hands-on tool training - Mind the Product is conferences and community, not tool tutorials. Use it for strategy and practice; use vendor docs or courses for tools.
  • You want very technical content - Talks are product- and process-oriented. For deep engineering or data-science content, look for domain-specific conferences or channels.
  • Budget or time is very tight - Conferences cost money and time. Free options: YouTube talks, recaps, and local meetups. Join those first; upgrade to conferences when it’s worth it.
  • Pricing (high level)

Meetups and many videos are free. Conferences are paid; check mtpcon.com and Mind the Product’s site for current pricing and early-bird options.

Product and research team collaboration - Jane Austin at #mtpcon London 2023

For PMs who want to learn from peers and leaders, Mind the Product is a strong default. Use talks and recaps for learning, and the community for networking and perspective.
